Obituary for Eva Mary Cairnie

Eva Mary Cairnie of Montgomery, Texas passed away January 27, 2019 at the age of 90. She was born in Irvine, Scotland to John Fleming Foster and Jeanie Burnside Henry on February 6, 1928. She was married to William (Bill) McNeil Cairnie on March 28, 1958 in Largs, Scotland. Eva graduated from Western Infirmary of Glasgow as a registered nurse and midwife. They moved to Texas in 1975 from Australia where she and Bill continued to raise their two children. In retirement, she volunteered for hospice, Houston Arboretum, was a dedicated member of St. James Episcopal Church and enjoyed time with family and friends. Her life was dedicated to helping others.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, John and Jeanie Foster and step mother, Katherine Foster and her sister, Elsie Hinshalwood.

Eva is survived by her son, John Cairnie and wife, Karen and her daughter, Anne Stuart and husband, Bob. Also, her grandchildren, Ross Cairnie and wife, Katy, Devon Workman and husband, Josh; Collin, Kyler and Luke Stuart. And her one great grandson, Harrison Cairnie.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 15 at 11 am at St James Episcopal Church, 1803 Highland Hollow Drive in Conroe. A reception will follow in the St. James Parish Hall.

A special thank you to her wonderful hospice nurses, Tawny, Vicky and chaplain Marty.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimers Association in her name.
